There’s also an outdoor trail system where people can walk or run at their own pace. Other programs include adult-only exercise classes where people ages fifty and above can participate at any level of fitness. All of these programs target different aspects of health such as cardiovascular fitness, muscularity, flexibility and weight loss.
All of this extra activity has led to a healthier population. In the past decade, there’s been a major shift in public health- these fitness programs are aimed at both adults and children. The idea is to increase the physical and mental health of the general population. In addition, these programs have the potential to reduce chronic disease and enhance mental health. These programs have become increasingly popular as they offer instant results.

Most of my community has become more active since our school introduced a fitness program for students grades seven through twelve. The program has daily sessions for two hours with thirty minutes for cardio training and ten minutes for flexibility training. In addition, there are strength training sessions three days a week for thirty minutes with two rest days between strength training sessions. Furthermore, there are two weekly outdoor track workouts for twenty minutes with ten minutes of stretching before and after running or jogging.
In addition, there are weekly team competitions where students from different schools compete against each other. The competitions encourage both physicality and team spirit. A major trend in fitness programs is ‘calisthenics’- it’s similar to Pilates and yoga but based on body movement and breath control. The exercises are performed in an ordered manner so that internal organs can also be strengthened.
Other common fitness programs include circuit training, bodyweight training and strength training. These programs vary in their intensity, but they all teach discipline, strength and control over bodily functions such as breathing and heart rate. Regular exercise has definitely helped my community live healthier lives! Many people now have access to various fitness facilities that encourage regular physical activity. These changes have led to an increase in the overall health of my community!
